I was all ready to do my fourth and final post of this unintentional Holiday Sweets Week on a somewhat healthified chocolate chip cookie recipe. Change of plans.
Whether or not I’m the most talented cookie maker in my family, chocolate chip cookie duty nonetheless falls upon me each year. I find the classic Toll House recipe very reliable, but in the spirit of my adventures in cleaner eating this year, I thought this was a great opportunity to make a few healthy ingredient substitutions.
Long story short(er), I now have four dozen very edible cookies, but Toll House classic they are not. So continues my education in whole wheat pastry flour!
Being that the cookies are less than photogenic, I’ll opt to use tonight’s post to summarize the week’s quick and easy dessert ideas, laundry list style. Chances are, you might even have the ingredients on hand to make one or more of these treats!
I’ve got a sugar buzz just looking at those pictures! Actually, that sugar buzz is more than a placebo effect—there has been a lot of chocolate chip cookie sampling going on chez moi. Just for quality control purposes, of course. I can’t be bringing any sub-par specimens to my sister’s house, now can I?
I’m off to Massachusetts for Christmas, so Soap & Chocolate is on vacation until next week. I do, however, have a little nugget of Christmas fun scheduled to pop up tomorrow night, so check in again on Friday for a break from all that festive miracle nonsense.
