Howdy ho, neighbors! It felt a little weird not to post last night, but I needed a little breaky break from the blogosphere; you know how it is. Well, that and the fact that my pizza from Friday night was so slammin' that I ate it again yesterday, and I just don't do posts about leftovers.
I had a lovely and relaxing Fourth of July. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, so I took a good long walk in my neighborhood. I also needed a certain couple of pre-vacation salon treatments, so I later emerged from Dashing Diva with red toenails and...well, some things are better left to the imagination. Actually, please don't imagine that.
I was also invited to a barbeque last night, which I happily accepted not only because it was a chance to hang with quality people, but because these particular friends have achieved what most New Yorkers covet but cannot have in this urban jungle: a patio. I daresay this patio on the Lower East Side is nearly as big as their apartment itself, and it was an ideal venue for grilling and playing with puppies. My belly was ecstatic to find plenty of vegetarian options, so many thanks to the hosts with the mosts. :)
I could have taken pictures of everything and made a post out of it, but a) you know what a veggie burger looks like and b) I've realized that sometimes it's more worth it to just be in the moment and know the Internet will still be there the next day. Plus now I've gone and told you about it anyway.
I do, however, have pictorial evidence from today's outing. Liquiteria is arguably the best place in the city for fresh and bottled juices, so when Gena suggested that we meet there for our next juice date, I was jazzed for the opportunity to try it. The "Royal Flush" did not disappoint - who needs a pina colada when you have a fresh juice made with pineapple, pear, ginger, aloe vera and Liver Kidney Lymph Detox?
I did have a mojito last night, so I'm thinking it's out of my system by now, thanks to the juice. And the 24-hour time lapse.
I also managed to get shat on twice (TWICE!) during the course of our conversation. Seriously, if getting pooped on by birds is good luck, you might want to have me start choosing your lottery numbers. What are the chances?! Sheesh, it's like even the birds are reading The Raw Food Detox Diet these days.
Oh, and the picture above is the second poo, just so you know. The first one landed on my (bare!) arm, so I wiped it off with a napkin, no sweat. As you can see, the second one NAILED me, and I photographed it AFTER wiping off the actual solid turds. That's because I'm classy and have high standards of not showing you actual poops. See how I'm always thinking of you?
But let's not make a mountain out of a molehill. The fact is that the dress was laundry-bound anyway, and the poop incidentS did not detract in the least from a truly enjoyable couple of hours in the sun with Gena.
Perhaps the best part was the realization that despite meeting via the blogosphere, we genuinely hit it off in real life and have far more in common than blogger status. In fact, we didn't even talk about blogs today! Just what the doctor ordered.
Gena, I so heart you, and I have the sunburn to prove it. It's cool; I needed a base for Vegas anyway. :)
I don't leave for my trip to Vegas until Tuesday night, so I have another full day of relaxation in my favorite city. It is going by blessedly slowly, due to my having planned very little for the weekend, and that's just fine with me. I'm trying to let go of that need to "have done something" every day. This weekend has taught me that spending time with good friends, both old and new, is something enough.
