Birthday-Palooza: Sunday

It should be noted that this is my third birthday related post, and my actual birthday has yet to happen (it's tomorrow, Monday). But can you blame me? I had a pretty normal (though no less lovely) weekend - it's just that everything is more fun when you call it birthday-palooza. :)

1. The boyf gave me an(other) early present! His mom is an amazing jewelry maker, and I am now the proud owner of a second piece of her work. Score. Let me know if you want her info and I will put you in touch!

2. We (I) made a veggie-licious pile of egg whites and chopped veg with some cheese, rolled up in a whole grain flax wrap, with some blueberry Chobani and granola on the side. POWERBREAKFASTROCKANDROLL!!!

3 & 4. We saw Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D this afternoon. I got a kid's box to snack on, if you can see it in the dark picture at all. Even if you can't make out the popcorn and M&M's, the boyf and I are pretty hard to miss in our 3D glasses.

5. We walked around Forest Hills (Queens) a lot this afternoon. I forgot to mention that the weather in NYC was fab this weekend and I got a great run in yesterday, along with some window- (and actual) shopping today. We tried a new health food restaurant for dinner, Tierra Sana, which was great. They have both cafe (cheap) and fine (expensive) menus, so we got a veggie chorizo & sweet potato appetizer from the fine menu - it was awesome and came atop this delish pom-oatmeal yogurt sauce, which toned down the spiciness a lot. Sorry that I only remembered a pic after I'd torn through most of it.

6. We then ordered our mains from the cafe menu. Boyf had a seitan-chimichurri sushi roll, while I had these delish zucchini-guac enchiladas. The lower price point also means that the portion sizes are just right, so I didn't leave with a total food baby, which is a good thing because I had what's in the last pic on my mind...

7. ...Oreo sundae from Baskin Robbins. I am making the most of this birthday-palooza on the ice cream front! Boyf got a brownie sundae. Mine was better. ;)

And with mere hours to go til my actual birthDAY, I feel like I've already had plenty of wonderful celebration with good food and good friends. I'm a lucky girl...but hey, what's wrong with a little more? I'll be back tomorrow with the final installment of birthday-palooza...if I'm not passed out in a food coma, that is.
