Deux Not Mess With Destiny

I did a vintage workout this morning! Somehow this Reebok Step Aerobics video survived 20 years and a couple moves - I must have rescued it from certain death at some point along the line because it has been sitting on my shelf ever since I moved out of my parents' house a few years ago. Maybe it was my sister's originally...? Anyway, a good workout is a terrible thing to waste, and this is a good workout! Yeah, it's VHS, don't judge.

If I'm not mistaken, this is actually the original step workout, mother of all step workouts done thereafter. In fact, the instructor, Gin Miller (total goofmatron, I learned in a more recent stability ball workout) is credited as the "inventor" of step aerobics (!). I could make fun of this video 'til the cows come home, plus it is basically one long Reebok commercial (more than a few close-ups of the high tops, if you know what I mean). There's no denying I was huffin' and a'puffin' by the end, though. I found a clip if you're curious...

This video takes itself so seriously! It makes me smile, even if the participants aren't doing likewise. How about that set straight out of Aliens?! "Get away from her, you bitch!"

Speaking of Puffins, breakfast was Don't-Mess-With-Destiny part II because yesterday I spied Kath's idea for a pumpkin yogurt crunch bowl. Since I had all the stuff in house, more or less, a version of that was destined to be my deskfast this morning.

'Twas made of these:

  • 3/4 cup Kashi Go Lean
  • 1/3+ cup PB Puffins
  • 1 tsp flax
  • 1 tbsp pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
  • 1 tsp pumpkin butter
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt

This was a glorious and voluminous combo, all stirred up nice and creamy-like. Next time I'll have to follow Kath's suggestion more closely, as it was lacking (entirely) in the nut butter department. I am expecting a package early next week that I think may pimp this bowl to the max, though. Until then, I am yours drooly,

Never forget the nut butter my friend!

I won't judge - I have an entire collection of VHS workout tapes. We're down to one VCR in the house. I'll die if it breaks.
