Buck the System

Happy Friday! I decided to treat myself this morning and skip packing breakfast in favor of picking it up. And by 'treat' I mean I spent $1.08 on dollar oats (damn you, sales tax) at Jamba Juice. If you have a Jamba Juice convenient to you, make sure to print yourself a coupon and score this at least once before the offer expires at the end of March!

There are real steel cut oats under there, I swear. I opted for the blueberry-blackberry topping with brown sugar. The other options are apple cinnamon or fresh banana. The topping I had was super sweet, but the oats themselves were not sweetened (just cooked in soymilk), so after stirring it all together, it balanced out alright. Still, if I were making it myself, I'd use the whole fruit. This tasted like pie filling, which is fine with me for occasional treat purposes, but being a smoothie company, I'm sure Jamba Juice has a few blackberries floating around their store. Pony up and give me the real deal, homes!

Unless I'm doing it in the crockpot, I rarely have the patience to do steel cut oats myself, so that was also a treat - so much more to chew on! Speaking of wholesome foods, Abbie is doing Jamba one better and giving away oatmeal for free! Among other fabulous goodies, that is. I am loathe to pass the link on to you, lest it diminish my own chances, bwahaha...

Diana, you are awesome, and you crack me up! Thanks so much for posting the link! Have a great weekend!

The blueberry/blackberry topping looks so good, I thought it was a berry cobbler at first!

oooh nice! i've done the jamba oatmeal deal twice, but both times with banana. the other toppings sounded to risky to leave under someone else's control, but it's pretty hard to mess up bananas! i, too, loved that it was SCO, such a treat to not have to cook them myself (though i guess the crockpot usually does all the work for me anyway, haha ...)!
