Hand in the Cookie Jar

How to know you read too many foodie blogs: You go into Whole Foods for this...

...but you come out with this.

$45 poorer and wondering what just happened.

Still scratching my head, I opted for an easy dinner. As much as I loves me some omelettes, they do not hold the same power over me as sweet stuff for breakfast. For that reason, I make sure to have an eggs 'n' facon dinner every so often.

In my frittatataaah:

  • 1 whole egg and 1/4 cup liquid egg whites, scrambled together
  • 50g chopped spinach
  • 50g roasted red peppers
  • 1 oz crumbled blue cheese

It's satisfying! ::thumbs up::

Rest assured, a good bit of today's (impulse) purchases were put to good use thusly:

That's right! Those are the Banana Oatmeal Chip Cookies from none other than Carrots 'N' Cake! The recipe looked so impossibly healthy and delicious that I was itching to try it out, and it's officially a hit. The best party (typo, but I'm keeping it)? EASY! I kid you not, these pillows of heaven took me all of 20 minutes, start to finish. Bonus: I tried to resist doing this, but since all the ingredients are so dang healthy, I had to do some quick calculations out of morbid curiosity, and each cookie clocked in at exactly 50 calories. At no other time in my life have I sincerely contemplated a half dozen cookies as 'part of this nutritious breakfast'. Thank youuuuuu Tina!

Naturally, the baker gets to sample the goods, just for poison control, of course. Can't be bringing funkatronic cookies to my sister's house, can I? Wait...oh, NO! Lane, pretend you didn't read that. Or look at the pictures. Or click through to the recipe. :P

Tonight also marks my first experience with coconut milk 'yogurt'. I started with the plain flavor, and it is entirely luuurvely. Good source of healthy fat, too. Looking at the picture above, you know what's coming next, right?


That's half of my cookie, which decided to take a swim in the coconut goodness. It has a watery-er texture than cow milk yogurt, but it's still fairly rich because of the fat content. For those of us getting more and more used to Greek yogurt, however, even wet cement is starting to look thin, so take my description with a grain of salt.

Now that it has been a productive day in the eats department, I can rest easy. ::sigh of relaxation:: One of the items from my picture of the shopping trip above is making its debut in my breakfast tomorrow; betcha can't guess!

I do that all the time at grocery stores, I have the hardest time sticking to my lists esp. with new products and sales!

I always do that! Go in for one thing and come out with 20! Hate how that works! The cookies look wonderful!!

I can totally relate to this! Except for I'd come out with all of that PLUS a big bag of trail mix for a "little snack"! Hah!
